Home was gutted after Katrina and some work had begun but then property was vandalized. This was a 4 bdrm 2 bath single family home; however there are doubles in the area so it may carry a multi-family zoning (which would be up to purchaser to verify). Last house at dead end of street directly across from UNO Lakefront Arena. Lots of new construction in the area.

Additional help for your search and facts:

Orleans is a city-parish, encompassing the whole of the city of New Orleans. The most famous and well-known of Louisiana’s cities, “The Big Easy” is a bustling major U.S. city known for its nightlife, cuisine, music, and history. The people of New Orleans are resilient, strong and proud of their city and all it has to offer. The indomitable spirit of the parish and its people make it an enticing draw for home seekers.

ORLEANS PARISH QUICK FACTS:

  • Total area: square miles
  • Median Age: 35.5
  • New Orleans city population as of 2016: 391,495
  • Larger employers include Ochsner Health System, Tulane University, and Acme Truck Line.

New Orleans was founded in 1718 by the French Mississippi Company and named for Phillippe II, Duke of Orléans, who was a Regent of France at the time. The colony was ceded to Spain in 1763. The port was an important part of the American Revolution, where aid, equipment, and supplies were smuggled up the Mississippi River to help the revolutionaries and was a key player in the ultimate defeat of the British. Following the Revolution, Napoleon famously sold the territory in 1803 to the then-newly formed United States. Because of its access to major waterways, the city became a hub for immigrants of various populations, including France, Africa, and Haiti, as well as Creole peoples (Louisiana-born people of French and Spanish descent), and later Irish, Germans, and Italians settled in the parish, melding the cultures and traditions we can see in the city today.

The history of New Orleans can be seen in the various architectural styles of its streets and buildings. Houses include the shotgun house, bungalow, Creole cottages and townhouses noted for their ornate ironwork in the French Quarter (link to Kendra’s neighborhood page) to the antebellum-era mansions found on St. Charles Avenue.

Many people in the United States consider Orleans Parish and the city of New Orleans a never-ending Mardi Gras celebration, but that’s only a small part of the way New Orleans residents live. The arts/culture in New Orleans is an amazing hub for live music, living up to its reputation as the Birthplace of Jazz, and is home to the House of Blues and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band. However, jazz isn’t the only music in town, with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, the New Orleans Opera, as well as a ballet company, and art galleries abound.

Known as the best food city in the country, dining in the area is second-to-none, featuring French, Cajun, and Creole cuisine. Festivals include the world-famous Mardi Gras, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and even a Voodoo Experience Music Festival.

We can’t forget the sports: New Orleans is home to the Superdome and New Orleans Saints!
